Eudlo Creek Footbridge – Screw Piles & Concrete Abutments

Eudlo - Sunshine Coast

Sunshine Coast Council

Project SummaRy

The Goal

The goal of this project was to construct the screw pile and concrete abutment substructure for a new pedestrian footbridge over Eudlo Creek, setting the foundations for the next stage of the broader path upgrade.

The Challenge

A key challenge was carrying out in-stream construction within a sensitive creek corridor home to platypus and vulnerable frog species, all while meeting a tight deadline ahead of the platypus breeding season.

The Solution

We installed hot-dip galvanised screw piles and cast concrete abutments, supported by rock scour protection to the creek batters. Vegetation clearing was kept to a minimal footprint, with a dedicated fauna management plan and spotter-catchers on site throughout the works.

The Result

Eudlo Creek now has a durable, well-protected substructure ready for the next stage of the path upgrade — delivered with no adverse impact on the local platypus population, confirmed by post-construction ecology monitoring.
