Parkyn Parade, Mooloolaba, at the Mooloolah River groyne entrance
The goal of this project was to protect an exposed dredge pipe from further erosion and restore safe, stable conditions on a high-use public beach.
Ongoing erosion had significantly exposed the pipe and undermined the existing rock groyne, creating a hazard for both the infrastructure and beachgoers. Our team had to carry out the repair while keeping the beach accessible to the public and working within a tight tidal-window schedule.
We constructed a new scour protection system using graded rock armour around the pipe, shaped to match the existing groyne profile, and carried out beach back-passing works to restore the shoreline.
The dredge pipe is now well protected against further erosion, the groyne profile has been reinstated, and the beach has been restored for community use — delivering long-term coastal resilience for this stretch of the Mooloolaba foreshore.
